Jacksonville Gay and Lesbian Estate Planning Lawyer reports Florida's first countywide Equal Benefits Ordinance (EBO) in Broward County. Broward is the first county in Florida to adopt an EBO, and places Broward County's domestic partnership policies among the strongest in the country.
This Ordinance provides that any vendors wanting to do business with Broward County must treat domestic partners and married employees equally. In 2005, Miami Beach became the first city in the state to pass an EBO. This policy has been praised by the city commission and the staff, while reporting no negative fiscal impact.
